Please recommend a reasonable price, but quality lawn mower?
My dad already has a riding mower and need only push a mower to clean around the edges where difficult maneveur the lawn mower. Ideally, looking for well-designed, built lawnmower, so it's a reasonable price (a few hundred dollars?) I doubt my dad will do the routine Maintenace as oil changes and air filter. So I guess a lawn mower that can take that kind of neglect and are still working well might be the best.
This is something that most I do not know. Most lawn mowers are stamped steel Roper built by the company (even if they have a fancy name for them). Grass clippings are very acidic and will cause the average cutting steel to rust over a period of 3-5 years, even if kept in the garage. Now the main difference is the motor. These engine manufacturers to produce engines and cutters of different specifications can differ greatly even though they look identical on the outside. A Briggs and Stratten is not the same as the next. Honda makes the best mower engine hands down, but can be expensive. Briggs and Stratten is second, but due to the demands of A low-cost manufacturers may vary. Tecumseh has historically been the bottom of the stack with minimal adjustments and frequent need of service. Go Home Depot and get the steel cutter deck of the best in its range. His version of the John Deer is a good buy. Change oil every forty hours of maximum performance! Always clean around the dipstick before checking the oil so that nothing falls into the engine. Replace the air filter at the beginning of each season and more if your area is exceptionally dusty.Wash cuts under the cover before putting it away. Never PTS or oil additives in the oil, air-cooled engines work differently to your car (the oil is hot enough to fry fish) and kills these things. Follow the guidelines of the engine manufacturers and you will be fine no matter what you buy. I worked for Toro for five years at the distribution level as security devices and although I like Toro, Snapper think makes the best mower on the planet. Go figure.
